Five days after cyclone Hudhud affecting coastal Andhra Pradesh, there are reports that thousands of people still stand marooned in remote Rambilli region, where India is building a secret and strategic naval base in order to bolster the defences on the east coast. The base is coming up at a cost of Rs. 20,000 crores over a period of ten years even as the Air force and navy pilots have reportedly undertaken a reconnaissance mission have been spotting villagers who are doing their best draw attention of passing aircraft. Rambilli mandal, which is about 70 km from Vizag, comprises of a population of 60,000 people, and till now sources say no assessment is done over what actually happened when Hudhud attacked this town. Defence analysts say this base would be hosting India's first indigenously built aircraft carrier, that can dozens of aircraft and a host of submarines that can keep an eye from here till a distance of 3500 km all over Andaman and then straits of Malacca near Malaysia and stage area domination till Vietnam and Australian coasts.
