Government has moved its activities to expand Gannavaram Airport which is nearer to AP’s new capital. AP Government has proposed to elevate the status of airport to International status. Government issued notification for its expansion. It already served to the farmers seeking to grab more land. Reportedly, Government didn’t receive any objections from the farmers.
It seems the farmers are mentally ready to give their lands for Airport expansion. Government issued notice to the farmers saying to complete the process of land procurement within 15 days. Airport Authority of India (AAI) was announced that the expansion works are started soon after the land procurement completed. AAI officials also announced that they would change the existing terminal to new capital terminal in Gannavaram.
VKR College in Buddhavaram and Fruit crops in Kesarapalli would lose in first phase of land procurement. VKR College was located in 9.3 acres. Now all this land went for Airport expansion. Expansion of Gannavaram Airport is long demand even before the division of the state. At one stage, Government has proposed to construct new airport in Agiripalli near Nuzivid. Now it’s mandatory for the Government to expand its Gannavaram Airport.
