As per the AP reorganization 2013 Act, Andhra Pradesh should get special status after the division of the state. But Planning commission and other five states were not willing to do for AP. Planning Commission opined AP don’t have any eligibility for getting the Special Status. NDA Ministers are discussing among themselves how to giving benefit to AP. It’s difficult for Union Ministers from AP to answer the questions from the media on Special Status.
Senior Minister Venkaiah said that support of 50% of the Indian states is necessary for Special Status. Union Minister for Science and Technology YS Chowdary said that NDA Government is in dilemma in which form it helps to the state. YS Chowdary said that NDA Government has committed to provide help to AP but in different form. The state having special status used to 90% Central grants. NDA Government is trying to provide the same help in different form.
But Industrial Sector wants the providing the subsidies are better for the development of the state rather than giving Special Status. The delay in taking the decision had certainly damage the state progress. Before that, AP should get exemptions on Import, VAT and Excise CESS from NDA Government. Industries will come to the state if NDA reduces 14% Excise Tax on Cement Sector.
