Team India Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from Test Cricket with immediate effect. The decision was announced soon after Dhoni led the team for a Draw at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Dhoni batted close to 11 Overs along with R.Ashwin to force a draw. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Virat Kohli will lead the team for the final test versus Australia. The decision comes as a surprise in the middle of a series which India is confirmed to lose as they stand at 0-2. Dhoni's decision comes in the wake of his pour performances in Test Cricket and also the team under his captaincy pummeled to lowest defeats especially in Overseas conditions. Dhoni played 90 Tests for India, scoring 4876 runs. He effected a total of 294 dismissals (256 ct + 38 stumpings). Dhoni lead India in 60 Tests. He had 27 wins, 18 losses and 15 draws. He ends his career as India's most successful captain in terms of number of wins in his kitty. The bright spot of his captaincy is that under him, India also reached the number one Test ranking in 2009.
