Recently, the state government of AP had reportedly ordered a survey of all the illegal structures on the flood banks of the river Krishna located in the proposed capital region near Vijayawada.
Within a matter of few days, BJP MP Gokaraju Ganga Raju had hosted BJP national President Amit Shah at his luxurious guest house built illegally on the flood bank. Now what action would the AP government be taking regarding such illegal structures that has been built by several prominent personalities, including Ganga Raju, is being speculated.
But looking at the prominent role of Ganga Raju has given hope to many who have also flouted the River Conservancy Act to construct hundreds of such structures, which also includes several multi-storied buildings as well as guest houses on the Krishna flood banks.
In case the government acts to remove all such structures for establishing a properly planned riverfront capital, it might even create new disputes between the TDP and the BJP.
