As per current situation “Old sins cast long shadows” proverb is perfectly apt to KVP Ramachandra Rao. US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) named KVP in a bribery scandal of giving permissions to foreign companies to mine minerals containing Titanium along AP Coast. FBI charged him with conspiracy and money laundering. Interpol issued Red Notice to arrest KVP in bribery case. KVP challenged Interpol notice in High Court in April this year. High Court ordered CID DG not to enquire in this case until further orders. National Central Bureau (NCB) made an appeal to High Court and said that KVP have many alternatives to prove his sincerity. NCB added that India has Extradition Treaty with US to surrender criminal persons. If KVP feels that issuing Red Notices illegal, he will prove his honesty in the court. NCB filed counter petition in August, 2014 on KVP’s. NCB dismissed KVP allegations on political involvement. NCS said that enquiry and investigation was in America not in India. It argued US laws are applicable to the Indians who violated them in US. NCB argued to quash interim petitions on KVP. India and United States have signed in Extradition Treaty in 1999. If High Court is convinced with NCB argument CBI will surrender KVP to FBI.
