Farmers forced to give their land for the new capital under LPS carried out a group hunger stir against LPS at Undavalli on Sunday. AP Congress Committee president, N. Raghuveera Reddy, CPM state secretary, P. Madhu and other heads took part in the Rajadhani Rythu Deeksha and asked the state to organize a referendum regarding the acquisition of fertile land for the capital.

Mr Reddy taunted that CRDA is a Chandrababu real estate development agency and not capital region development authority as it is attempting to offer costly land accumulated freely from farmers to foreign firms on big lease amounts.

Stating the steady pace of land accumulation, he demanded the state to carry out a referendum with confidential ballot and to perform as per the wishes of the majority in the referendum.

He added that APIIC has spotted 35,000 acres of government land in Guntur and there is no requirement of turning fertile land into buildings if these government lands are used for the capital. Speaking to press minister for agriculture Rao alleged that political parties were irritating the farmers of the capital region and carrying on deekshas and dharnas.
