There are many speculations and rumors came out on giving of new Railway zone to the Andhra Pradesh. Some said that Vizag will be created as new zone but Vizainagaram and Srikakulam left into Raighad (Orissa). Now there is fresh buzz among the political circles that SCR (South Central Railway) divided into two instead of creating new Railway Zone to AP.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will be presented Railway Budget in the Parliament on February 26th. Telugu people are confusing state with these rumors. There are 17 Railway Zones in India. SCR Zone is on top five and second in generating highest revenue among the others. There are 2,660 KMs in AP and 1,753 KMs in Telangana comes under SCR zone. Another 1,500 KMs are in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and Madhya Pradesh.

As per Telangana bill, Union Government has promised new Railway Zone to AP. BJP leaders have promised New Railway Zone as Visakhapatnam head quarters in their election campaign. But Orissa representatives aren’t ready to leave Visakhapatnam which is most profitable centre for East Coast Railway Zone.

NDA Government is in thought of dividing Secunderbad head quarter’s SCR zone into two as SCR Zone-1 and SCR Zone –II in place of new railway zone. Telangana and part of Maharashtra included in Zone –I where as AP (till Vizag) and some parts of Tamilnadu and Karnataka included in Zone - II.
