Couple of days back all right thinking people received shock when news came out where Mukesh Singh, rape convict in Nirbhaya case justified rape and blamed the innocent girl for the horrifying act.

More shockingly it cameout that world's popular channel BBC which prides itself of practising high journalistic values interviewed the rapist and plans to air it to pay tribute to women on International Womens Day. Even Indian channel NDTV which boasts of same planned to air the interview.

But with Times Now taking these two media and other channels which planned to air the interview and claimed of having exclusive clips to task, Delhi police filed FIR, approached High Court which directed media channels not to do so.

In the meanwhile Union Home Minister claimed the permission was given by previous government in July 2013 with many conditions and now all those have been flouted. But entire episode triggered media war with NDTV claiming that Nirbhaya's parents appreciated the documentary and congratulated the channel which was contradicted by Nirbhaya's mother. Common people however found fault with the judiciary for allowing rapists and other criminals enjoy all facilities in jail even after committing heinous crimes taking their cases after decades. People expressed their anger on judicial system and lawyers who take up the cases of these criminals who are finding fault with the victims. Every one started blaming channels for playing with the safety and security of women for their TRP ratings. Many vented their anger in social media and demanded swift capital punishment. People find fault with politicians like Mulayam Singh,Lalu Prasad and ilk for supporting rapists and commenting on the way women dresses. Public anger is so much that any moment it may erupt like volcano. Many are pained as nothing changed at the ground level even after Nirbhaya act was enacted following huge outcry and protests in streets across the country after Nirbhaya incident. General perception is unless until there is swift action against rapists and other criminals which incites fear of capital punishment in full public view is instilled in their minds, things will remain the same. Does this present Govt has the courage and guts to act tough or get swept by another public outcry?
