One of the many issues, which the TDP had fought during its role as opposition from 2004 to 2014 was the sensitive issue of Bauxite mining in Araku valley. Accusing YSR’s agreement with Anrak as a scam, TDP took to streets with the support of tribals here.
Many tribals came from the remote regions against the Congress government saying they are playing with nature and the lives of tribals. Circa, 2015, the NDA government is all set to approve the formal rules and regulations to start mining at this place.
And sources say that approval has already been sanctioned and only a formal announcement is pending. Current TDP minister Acchamnaidu was arrested several times during this agitation then.
This is even as Chandrababu Naidu feels Andhra Pradesh needs all sources of revenue and mining could start here. It has to be seen what will TDP sympathizers react to this development, something which made them detest YSR.
