AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu who is currently on a visit to Singapore is reportedly very much impressed with the ABC (active, beautiful, clean) Waters programme of the country, given his fascination for the nation.
He reportedly asked his officials to examine replicating this model in Andhra Pradesh. The Singapore Public Utilities Board's (PUB) ABC programme aims at integrating drains, canals, as well as reservoirs with surrounding environment for creating beautiful parks, pristinely clean streams, lakes as well rivers.
Singapore officials demonstrated to Naidu how a drain had been transformed into a very clean and beautiful river adding how property prices had shot up in this area due to such amenities..
Naidu also immediately instructed Singapore officials if they are willing to offer their expertise to AP for cleaning the rivers and streams of AP and also asked MA&UD minister P Narayana and principal secretary A Giridhar for coordinating with the Singapore officials and implement the ABC programme in AP towns.
