Prime Minister Narendra Modi openly made an appeal to the corporate and other well-off people for giving up LPG Subsidy. Modi meant to convey message that subsidies are become to poor not for all. Some of the corporate companies and industrialists were positively responded to Modi’s appeal. Anand Mahindra, Anil Agarwal, Gowtham Adani, Sajjan Zindal, Uday Kotak, Rahul Bajaj have voluntarily give-up LPG Subsidy.

TATA Group and Reliance have made the same appeal to its employees. There are 16 crores of people are enjoying LPG Subsidy. 3.2 lakhs people (0.2%) have voluntarily withdrawn LPG subsidy. There is an estimation that Govt saved 195 crores after 3.2 laks people giving up LPG Subsidy. It took time for NDA to reach the target of giving up LPG Subsidy with 1 crore people.

There is very poor response from two Telugu states on Modi’s appeal. Only 6K people agreed to give up LPG subsidy in two states. There are no politicians, officials and industrialists among them. People have to buy 14.2 KG cylinder with the price range between Rs. 640 to Rs. 681 after giving up the subsidy. People have to bear 2400/- annually after giving up the LPG subsidy.
