With the talks of seeking the payment of 43 per cent fitment on par with government employees reaching no consensus, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) workers unions and other related associations have gone for a strike starting today. 
 

Burning issue in the RTC department


It is known that, the fitment issue is currently the burning issue in the RTC department. The discussions which were  held between the government and the RTC employees on Tuesday were failed. 43% fitment will mean that the ticket prices are to be increased by 15% to bear the extra burden of 2800 Crore (AP and Telangana together).
 

 20000 buses will be off roads with this strike


As many as 20000 buses will be off roads with this strike and both the state governments are keen on doing alternate arrangements. As many as 1.20 Lakh employees are eligible for wage revision and are participating in this strike. Strikes are not allowed in RTC according to rules but the employees are defying them. The government reportedly told them that it is favourable for 27% fitment.
