Surprising even the hardcore economic pundits, the revenue receipts of Andhra Pradesh state for the first time has reportedly surpassed that of Telangana state. Until the event of bifurcation and, even a year following that, tax revenues from the 10 districts of Telangana were always higher than the collection in 13 districts of Seemandhra.


Now, sources as part of the first quarter of the current fiscal, courtesy healthy revenue receipts from the commercial taxes, stamps as well as registrations including that from mines and forests, for the state of AP has raced ahead of Telangana.

According to a white paper which has been released by the TDP government, for the previous financial year 2013-14, the revenue collection in Telangana was Rs 36,829.25 crore while that of Andhra region was Rs 32,164 crore. However, in what could be a reversal of sorts, AP had surged forward while TS lagged behind.


For the three month period ending on June 30, 2015, while Telangana got a tax revenue of Rs 10,580 crore, AP has reportedly received Rs 10,806 crore. Telangana fared well always because of Hyderabad, which has accounted for a major chunk of the revenues in united Andhra Pradesh. Even in real estate, AP has earned Rs 789 crore compared to Telangana's Rs 721 crore through land sale and registrations.
