Making its stand clear on the issue, Telangana has reportedly informed the Hyderabad High Court stating that it has no plans for demolishing the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) building which is located at Afzalgunj in Hyderabad. Telangana’s additional AG J Ramachandra Rao conveyed that they won’t be bringing this heritage structure down.

The bench has stated that since the structure has been classified as a heritage building, it should inform the public well in advance, regarding any of its decisions which are now related to the structure.

The bench heard a public interest petition which filed by Hyderabad-based advocate B M Swami Dass questioning the alleged plans to demolish the heritage structure, and hence the court wanted to know from the state the truth in these allegations and apprehensions. The state has reportedly replied that there are no such plans.

Sources say that the petitioner had produced before the court some of the prominent newspaper clippings which mentioned the state's decision for shifting the existing OGH wards to other hospital and then demolish this heritage structure. This also included comments by the Telangana deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali that if need even Charminar has to be demolished.
