'Apara Bhagirathudu’. This word was heard often during YSR’s tenure from 2004 to 2009. With apparent neglect of large scale irrigation projects and back to back droughts, people of United AP were vexed with Chandrababu and he was defeated in elections in 2004.

YSR stormed to power with many promises and one of them was ‘Jala Yagnam’ which involved taking up scores of medium and large scale irrigation projects and dams in AP with investments of more than 70,000 crores. But even after spending more than one lakh crores, by 2014 hardly one big project was also not built.

Chandrababu took up the prestigious Pattiseema project

It was widely stated that it had become Dhana Yaganam with nepotism and unrestrained corruption. But within one and half year of coming to power, Chandrababu took up the prestigious Pattiseema project and has linked Godavari with Krishna river, an ambitious dream in South India.

Now TDP leaders have been calling their chief as Apara Bhagirathudu’ who has made this remarkable feat possible. If Naidu completes Polavaram and other pending projects too, then he would indeed earn an unforgettable place in the hearts of people of Andhra Pradesh state.
