Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy sometime back launched Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi to fight for the rights of Rayalaseema region. He planned to go on padayatra from Tangadancha to Kurnool opposing land acquisition for industries in Tangadancha.

However police stopped his yatra and placed him under house arrest. Byreddy sat on deeksha at his house. Byreddy who faced lot of problems in the last elections later tried to enter TDP.
However his efforts didnot get results and though he protested in Delhi, it didnot get any attention. However tensions increased in Kurnool district.
Police arrested farmers in Orvakallu, Jupadubungalow mandals as a preventive
measure.
