The grandiose plans for development of Yadadri on the lines of Tirumala, which was unveiled by the Telangana state government few months ago is now reportedly taking a severe toll on the fragile environment of the temple town.

There are reports that large scale destruction of the hillocks and felling of large trees  including conversion of the local agricultural lands into residential plots is now more or less the order of the day, which has transformed the landscape of the town of Yadagirigutta for miles around.

real estate boom around Yadagirigutta after the announcement

With the sudden and massive real estate boom around Yadagirigutta after the announcement of an overhaul in the form of Yadadri, rampant illegal layouts have reportedly come up within a 20 km radius around the temple with most of them lacking the required permissions from the respective panchayats and the Director of Town and Country Planning (DTCP). The concerns which are being expressed by villagers are being fully ignored by the developers.

Villagers of Masaipet are upset that private developers are resorting to illegal blasting and levelling of the hillocks all around their village to develop plots. The blasting of the rocks on these hillocks is reportedly giving sleepless nights to villagers. Several houses have been damaged and cracks have developed in their walls. The levelling of the hillocks and cutting of the huge trees would lead to adverse impact on the environment in this area.
