The much-publicised and ambitions intern linking of Godavari and Krishna rivers by AP had received a big jolt just within hours of launching the motors for pumping of waters from the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS).
According to reports the aqueduct near Janampet village in Pedavegi mandal had suffered a major breach late on Saturday night. This half-baked aqueduct seems to have been washed away in the water flow such that entire water being was reverse pumped to Kolleru lake rather than Polavaram Right Main Canal.
Devineni Umamaheswara Rao had only switched
Taken aback by this unexpected development, the engineers had reportedly switched off the pump immediately by bringing the water release to a halt, something the water resources minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao had only switched on the motor last Friday.
It is being said that due to severe pressure from Babu and the government, the engineers and contractor have actually completed the work in a hurry and switched the motor early while also building other structures within a very short time to meet the preponed deadline. Many such flaws are expected to surface repeatedly due to Babu’s over enthusiasm.
