Andhra Pradesh is almost headed for becoming a `consultant raj' if one goes by the number of `expert' consultants which were appointed by the state government. There are reportedly close to 30 consultants who are now entrusted with tasks right from designing proposed capital city of Amaravati, to beautification of this region.

They have also been roped in developing waterfront tourism and to lay the foundation stone ceremony for the new capital city. Even the works at the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) have reportedly been taken over by `expert consultants'.

The state government earlier sanctioned around 800 posts for the CRDA but again only a handful of employees, in addition to the deputing staff from other government departments have been recruited so far.

There are even reports that Singapore team which was hired by the state government to prepare master plan of Amaravati had reportedly nudged Babu through their government that AP shouldn’t be depending too much on consultants and has expressed apprehension that the CRDA is handling key projects means of independent consultants and agencies.
