Srirangam Temple is always listed as the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world. The temple occupies an area of 156 acres making it the largest temple in India. The temple is enclosed by seven concentric walls and these walls are enclosed by 21 Gopurams. The temple ranks third to in the list of large Hindu temples after Thillai Nataraja Temple, Chidambaram and Thiruvannamalai Temple.


Annamalaiyar Temple is a noted temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is the second largest and it has got four stately towers on all the four sides and four high stone walls just like rampart walls of the fort. Ekambareswarar Temple is a Hindu temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is located in Kancheepuram in the state of Tamilnadu and it is one of the five major Shiva temples of Pancha Bootha Sthalams.


The temple of Arulmigu Swami Nellaiappar and Gandhimathi Ambal temple was built before 2500-3000 years. The temple cars which belongs to the temple is the third largest temple car in India and it is more than 510 years before and it is the oldest car festival in the world. Meenakshi Amman Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.


The ancient Sri Thyagaraja temple is dedicated to Somaskanda who is the aspect of Lord Shiva. The temple chariot is the largest of its kind in Tamilnadu. The temple tank covers around 16 acres and it is one of the largest in the country. Other famous temples in TN are Jambukeswarar temple, Varadharaja Perumal temple and Brihadeeshwarar temple.
