There is an air of uncertainty over the Thirteenth edition of the indian Premier League (IPL). The tournament should have begun on the 29th of march but was postponed due to the Lockdown imposed in India. The office-bearers of bcci met via a Video-Conference today to decide about the future of IPL this year. They have agreed that the conditions are not in favor of the conduct. So, they have decided to defer the tournament until further notice.

“The health and safety of the nation and everyone involved in our great sport remain our top priority and a such, the bcci along with the Franchise Owners, Broadcasters and Sponsors, and all the Stakeholders acknowledge the IPL 2020 season will only commence when it is safe and appropriate to do so, the press Release Said.

The good news is that the tournament is not canceled and bcci is still trying to sneak in some point of time later this year. bcci is staring at a whopping loss of 3500 Crore if the tournament is shelved. The players will also get to lose more if it does not happen.
