Reportedly former batting great VVS Laxman on friday heaped rich praise on former opener virender sehwag and lauded his self belief and positivity. Laxman also said that Sehwag went on to establish himself as one of the most destructive openers in Test history. "Cocking a snook at those who questioned his pedigree against high-quality fast bowling, @virendersehwag went on to establish himself as one of the most destructive openers in Test history. Viru's immense self-belief and positivity was as mind-boggling as it was infectious," Laxman  virender sehwag was one of the most destructive batsman ever to grace the cricket field and his records speak of his domination on the 22-yard pitch.

 

For a man who started off as a middle-order batsman in 2001 in bloemfontein, it was all about hand-eye co-ordination and keeping it simple that has earned him over 8,000 runs in Test cricket, of which close to 4,000 have come in foreign conditions. Sehwag was instrumental in India's success across formats during his playing days and formed a solid opening partnership with both sachin tendulkar and gautam Gambhir.

 

Overall, Sehwag scored 8586 runs from 104 Tests at 49.34 with 23 hundreds and 32 half-centuries. He played 251 ODIs and 19 T20Is in which he amassed 8273 and 394 runs respectively, with 15 hundreds in ODIs. Sehwag announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket in october 2015. Laxman has been paying tribute to his teammates who had an influence on him and his career. Laxman had earlier lauded his former teammates and india greats sachin tendulkar, anil Kumble, sourav ganguly, rahul dravid, and Javagal Srinath.
