Reportedly before taking up the high-profile job of bcci president, sourav ganguly had in october 2019 informed that he has resigned from the position of delhi Capitals mentor but the former india captain still remains the brand ambassador of JSW Cement. This has raised some eyebrows and questions have being raised against Sourav Ganguly. On saturday, the southpaw uploaded two instagram pictures wearing JSW Cement t-shirt. "At work .. JSW cement ..Start Strong Grow Stronger ...jsw cement," Ganguly captioned one of the pictures.

JSW sports, the sports arm of the business conglomerate JSW Group, along with GMR Group own the indian Premier League (IPL) franchise delhi Capitals. Ganguly had served as the team mentor of a young delhi Capitals team In 2019 season and also helped the team to qualify for the playoffs stage after 7 years. Sourav had responded to the questions and clarified that his role as the brand ambassador of JSW Cement is in no manner connected with his role as the bcci president. The 47-year-old said that he was not holding any influencing power to tinker with the cricketing matters of delhi Capitals.

"How do I influence? I am not brand ambassador of JSW sports (which handles delhi Capitals in IPL). I don’t think the cement company is a sponsor of the (Delhi Capitals) team. I don’t see any conflict in it. I am not associated with their cricket; had I been, it would have been a conflict," sourav ganguly told while speaking to The sunday Express. Earlier, sourav ganguly had forfeited his role as the president of cricket Association of bengal (CAB) before taking up the job of bcci president on october 23, 2019. Conflict is an issue whether you will actually get the best cricketers in the system. You are not too sure as they will have other options and because if they come into this system and not get to do something which is their livelihood, then it gets difficult to be part of the system. It needs to be looked into.
