The Indian Premier League 2016 schedule announced today in Mumbai. The ninth edition of IPL will start from April 9 after the conclusion of ICC World T20 2016 on April 3. This IPL be comprised of eight teams. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended for two years as their team principal and co-owner were found guilty of spot-fixing in 2013 IPL. Pune Super Giants and Rajkot are the two new teams who will join Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Royals Challengers Bangalore and Sunriser Hyderabad.


The first match of the tournament will be held in Mumbai between Mumbai Indians and Pune Super Giants. The final will also be held at Wankhede, Mumbai.


Mumbai Indians are the defending champion of the tournament.


A total of 60 matches (including the 4 play-offs) will be played over a period of 51 days, in the ninth season of the tournament.


The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium at Raipur will play host to two home games of Delhi Daredevils, while the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium at Nagpur will host three home games of Kings XI Punjab.


“All the top players from around the world will be seen in action this year. This season the IPL will be played at 10 venues – Mohali, Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot and Raipur. I am excited to join the fans to see a lot of exciting cricket over the next three months,” IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla said.


IPL has drawn huge success to Indian cricket and popularity that channelized into money. This World T20 2016 is also planned on the line IPL.
