Tillakaratne Dilshan who was out of form has showed his mettle once again by playing some quality shots and he helped Sri Lanka to register their first victory against Afghanistan. Srilanka who were down and under with Malinga's injury suffered some serious blows in Asia Cup.
Dilshan who opened the innings was completely in out of form. However yesterday he supported the chase pretty well and his knock turned out to be the decisive factor. Earlier Afghanistan who was sent to bat started pretty slow as they faced swinging ball.
Their captain Asghar Stanikzai once again scored a half century with four 6's and three 4's. Samiullah Shenwari's blinder of 31 runs from 14 balls helped them to reach a fighting total. However it was not good enough as Dilshan took them to safe shore single handed.
Dilshan later said that the wicket was slow and he tried to put up a small partnership. He also accepted that a little dew helped them as there were lots of misfieldings. He also praised Afghanistan for a good quality bowling.
