The fourth-seeded Indian pair, Sania Mirza and Bopanna subdued Britain's Andy Murray and Heather Watson with ease to enter the semi-finals of the Rio Olympics Games. The Indians dominated with 6 - 4, 6 - 4 in just 67 minutes.

Indians can hope for a bronze for now, but if they win in the next set too, a silver medal is in. The previous bronze medal for the country came through Leander Paes at Atlanta Games 1996.

The Indian pair was a better team than the Britons. While Bopanna was solid with his booming serve, Sania played superbly from the back of the court.

As Watson dropped serve at love, the Indians immediately got the break back. The Britons' flurry of errors gave three fat chances to Indians, which Bopanna rightly encased with a backhand winner on the first break point. Sania saved a breakpoint in the next. They together maintained the lead.
