India before the start of the Rio Olympics hoped to win atleast 10-12 medals as it sent record number of athletes than it did in London Olympics where it won 6 medals. Wrestler Narsingh Yadav qualified for Olympics based on his performances when he won  won bronze medal in the 2015 World Championship in the 74 kg category.

But he faced doping charges just ahead of Olympics after a bitter battle between him and two time Olympic medal winner Sushil Kumar who was not selected for Rio Olympics. As he faced ban, Narsingh Yadav accused of conspiracy and NADA after conducing an enquiry cleared him of doping charges.

When India is pinning hopes of winning a medal on Narsing Yadav, It came as shock when World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has exercised its right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) the wrestler’s exoneration by a national anti-doping hearing panel in New Delhi. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) had cleared the wrestler after he tested positive test for anabolic steroids.

Russia at the start of the Olympics complained to WADA about Narsing Yadav's participation and at that time many felt that Russians feared Narsingh Yadav who is India's medal prospect. Now just a head of his opening bout at the Olympics, WADA decided appeal against Narsingh Yadav's clearance by the NADA after he was tested positive for anabolic steroids.

Rakesh Gupta, India's Chef de mission said "WADA has appealed against the NADA (National Anti-Doping Agency) clearance in Court of Arbitration (CAS). Now the hearing is on and the IOA Secretary General (Rajeev Mehta) is there with WADA officials," Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh ,president of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) said India has a strong case and they have replied thorugh their lawyer.

Indian Olympic Association Secretary General Rajeev Mehta says "We are left with two options; to take two-days' time and fight the case or a time of one month for reply which would have jeopardised his career. His fate will now be decided on August 18. We will fight till the end,"

Narsing Yadav faces career-ending four-year ban if the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) upholds WADA's appeal.under these circumstances it has to be seen whether Narsing Yadav can pull off a miracle at Rio Olympics if he is cleared by WADA after undergoing all the mental trauma.
