The Whole Nation now utters the name 'Pusarla Venkata Sindhu'. The young champ who was born on July 5, 1995 has now assured India a Silver Medal in Olympics. However this was not a cake walk for her. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu was born into a Telugu family to P. V. Ramana and P. Vijaya.



Her parents were former Volleyball players. Her father also won Arjuna Award for his sport. Even though her parents were professional Volleyball players, Sindhu opted for badminton. She started playing badminton since she was 8 years old. She first learned the basics of the game at the badminton courts of Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secunderabad.



Soon after she joined Pullela Gopichand's badminton academy. Soon after joining Gopichand's badminton Academy she won several titles under 10 years category. She also won the 5th Servo All India ranking championship in the doubles category and the singles title at the Ambuja Cement All India ranking.



She also won the under-14 team gold medal at the 51st National School Games in India.Slowly she entered International circuit and at 2010, she won Silver Medal at Iran Fajr International Badminton Challenge. She also reached quarterfinals of the 2010 Junior World Badminton Championships that was held in Mexico.



PV Sindhu also received several awards and honors to her name. She was awarded Padma Shri in 2015 and this is the fourth highest civilian award of India. She was also awarded NDTV Indian of the year in 2014. Let's hope PV Sindhu win the finals in Olympics and bring more glory to our Nation.
