Parthiv patel's century helps Gujarat to clinch their first ever maiden Ranji trophy against Mumbai on Saturday. THe final match played here at Indore's Hoalker stadium, Gujarat displayed a befitting innings against the 41 times Ranji trophy winner Mumbai.
Gujarat succeeded in Chasing a huge score of 312 Which Mubai had given the target. Thanks to the captain Parthiv Patel for his scintillating knock of 143 runs. Later the middle order batsman Manprit Juneja's invaluable support act (54) helped the gujarat team to reach the target.
Earlier in the first innings Mumbai scored 228 runs, in a reply Gujarat scored 328 runs there by leading with 100 runs. In the second innings Mumbai came back well to score 411 runs there by giving a target of 312 runs to Gujarat. Gujarat scored 313 runs and recorded a 5 wicket victory over Mumbai.
Mumbai played their finals in Ranji trophy 47 times and won the title 41 times. Gujarat last played their Ranji trophy finals way back in 1950-51 in this very ground and lost by 189 runs. After 66 years Gujarat's dream of winning the Ranji trophy came true. Parthiv Patel was named the man of the match.
