Indian Shooters were outstanding in the ongoing shooting world cup at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range .The star shooters from India Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu beat Japan to win first ever gold medal in the shooting world cup.
Still now the shooting game was conducted differently for men and women But for the first time ISSF came up with the idea of adding some spice to the game by introducing the mixed gender in the shooting game. The world body hopes that the new event can add unpredictability to the sport where despite one shooter’s good performance, the other one could bring the score down. The mixed event got its start with the 10m Air Rifle event at the World Cup on Saturday with China winning the gold medal over Japan.
The introduction of mixed event in was however differed by the Hungary ‘s Peter Sidi who won a silver in the 10m air rifle event. He said that this was boring. “It’s just playing, you know. Like passing time. This is not a real event,” Sidi said. “Nobody knows what is happening. We are just learning the event as it was being played. The rules could be better. It is a little bit boring.”
The recommendations to include mixed gender event was given by the Abhinav Bindra-led ISSF Athletes Committee and the world governing body soon ratified the proposal.
