After made to bat first after losing the toss, the Sri Lankans ended up scoring a paltry 135 in 20 overs, in the 3rd T20 match of their tour of India. After losing the first 3 wickets in quick succession and reeling at 18/3, the Sri Lankan Innings was resurrected by a determined Samarawickrama (21), Gunaratne (36) and Shanaka(29) at the tail helping Lankans post 135 at the end of the Innings.
With Unadkat, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar controlling the Sri Lankans, next came Indians to bat, and lost opener KL Rahul early for just 4. Captain Rohit Sharma resisted for a while before falling for 27, and then the Indian Innings was helped by timely and patient knocks by Shreyas Iyer (30) and Manish Pandey (32), both of whom fell, placing India in deep trouble once again.
With Hard hitter Hardik Pandya too falling soon, it was up to two wicketkeeper-batsmen MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik to finish the proceedings as India was struggling at 108/5, to score the remaining 28 runs, and MS Dhoni finished it scoring the winning runs with a boundary (16 off 10), after a thundering sixer by Karthick (18 of 12) in the previous over. With India finally ending at 139/5 in the 20th over with 4 balls to spare, India won the 3 match series 3-0, making it a clean sweep.
