The Chennai Super Kings IPL franchise is all set to return this year after a 2-year ban slapped on them ,and CSK had already announced retaining of star players, captain MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. CSK made huge bid of Rs 7.8 crore for Kedar Jadhav, and used their Right to match and retained Dwayne Bravo for 6.4 crores, Faf du Plessis for Rs 1.6 crore and Imran Tahir for Rs 1 crore.CSK also bought  Australian all-rounder Shane Watson.



On the other hand, CSK management has been criticised heavily for choosing players who are mostly of the age group of late 30s,  besides Also letting go of one of the top spinners of the Indian team, and local boy  R Ashwin to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 7.2 crore. In the whole bidding time, CSK was seen spending on relatively lesser known players who haven't proved much even in the domestic circuit, rather than on established players.


CSK was also criticised for purchasing players like Shardul Takur spending more than 2 crores, and also spending a bomb on purchasing an out of action player like Harbhajan Singh, who hasn't been in great form or match experience of late, and opting to let go of Ashwin.
