As Bangladesh began batting first in the final match of the Nidhas Cup tri-series, at Colombo, they lost early wickets, losing both the openers in quick succession, putting the team in a spot of bother, before being rescued by Sabbir Rahman, who started off cautiously, and later settled, scoring a stunning 77(50, 7x4,4x6).

With some support from the middle and the tail, with Mahmudullah (21) and Hasan Miraz (19) chipping in with cameos to take Bangladesh to a decent 166/8 in 20 overs, with Yuzvendra Chahal and Unadkat picking 3 and 2 wickets each. In came the Indian batsmen who began tenaciously, with Dhawan and Raina departing in quick succession.

Hitman Rohit Sharma began to anchor the Innings, and scored a steady 56(42), ably supported by KL Rahul who chipped in with a valuable 24, before both fell in a gap of 15 runs on board. While Manish Pandey tried his best to take the team to the target, he couldn't quite get support from the other end, as Vijay Shankar struggled to even connect the bat and ball.

With Manish falling for 28, and with India needing 34 off 12 deliveries came Dinesh Karthik, who hit the balls to all corners of the ground, scoring 2 sixers and 2 boundaries off the 19th over by Rubel Hossain, making it just 12 needed of the last over. Ultimately, Vijay Shankar, a product of N Srinivasan influenced entrants from TN to the team India fell with 5 runs needed off 2 balls and with the whole nation waiting with bated breath, Dinesh Karthik cleared the ropes, hitting a massive six, sealing the victory for team India, and also winning the Nidhas Cup tri-series.
