The 8th match of the Vivo IPL 2018 between Kings XI Punjab and Royal challengers Bengaluru began with the kings xi batting first, and was lead by KL Rahul's blitzkrieg 47(30), despite being ripped apart by Umesh Yadav who scalped the prized wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Finch and Yuvraj Singh.
Karun Nair (29) and skipper R Ashwin (33) made sure, the kings xi Punjab survived the exemplary bowling performances of Washington Sundar (2-22), Umesh Yadav (3-23), and finally posted 155, being dismissed all out in 19.2 overs itself. Entered Royal challengers to chase down the score, and their Chase received early jolt as powerhouse batsman Brendon McCullum was dismissed for a duck.
However, Quinton De Kock (45) and Kohli (21), forged a partnership to save RCB, before both the batsmen were dismissed Making way for Ab De Villiers, who began cautiously, and later launched an unexpected attack, breaking into an onslaught of sixes, taking RCB close to victory with his stunning 57(40b, 2x4,4x6), before being dismissed by Tye, and it was left to Woakes and Washington Sundar who held their nerves, to take RCB to a thrilling victory of the last over with 3 balls to spare, scoring 159/6. Umesh Yadav was adjudged the player of the match for his impressive spell.
