The 13th match of the VIVO IPL 2018 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils began with the Kolkata Knight Riders batting first. Though the Knight riders began tenaciously, losing opener Sunil Narine early, Lynn(31) and Uthappa(35) tried to anchor, and forged a partnership, before being joined by Nitish Rana, who hit a quickfire 59(35b, 5x4,4x6).
As Rana was scoring at a brisk pace, in came Andre Russell, who smashed the Delhi bowlers all over the park, hitting a flurry of boundaries and sixes, before being bowled by Boult after scoring a blitzkrieg knock of 41(12b, 6x6). With Tewatia claiming the lower order wickets in quick succession, KKR ended at 200/9 off 20 overs. As Delhi Daredevils came in to bat, they had an early jolt. as they lost their captain Gautam Gambhir and another opener Roy in quick succession.
It was Rishab Pant who scored a brisk 43(26b, 7x4,1x6) and Glenn Maxwell 47(22b, 3x4,4x6) who brought back the Delhi Daredevils back into the game, with their quickfire knocks, before Kuldeep Yadav claimed both their wickets. And while they were batting, the chase seemed probable, but post their departure, the lower order fell like a pack of cards, one after the other, as Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav ended with impressive figures of 3/18 and 3/32 respectively, and Delhi Daredevils were wrapped for 129 in just 14.2 overs. KKR comfortably won the match by 71 runs, and Nitish Rana was adjudged player of the match.
