The 14th match of Vivo IPL 2018 between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore began with Mumbai Indians batting first. While Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan fell early without adding to the score of MI, with Umesh Yadav claiming both, in came skipper Rohit Sharma, who along with the other opener Lewis began the resurrection act.

Lewis and Rohit casually started hitting the RCB bowlers across the park, and Lewis ended his knock scoring 65(42, 6x4,5x6) and Rohit's blitzkrieg 94(52b, 10x4,5x6) propelled Mumbai from a pathetic 0/2 to a powerful 213/6 off 20 overs. Then started the RCB innings, as skipper Virat Kohli opened the innings with Quinton De Kock.

The team received early jolt, as De Kock and the powerful player Ab De Villiers departed early, and even Mandeep Singh , Anderson and the whole RCB middle and  lower order failed miserably, and fell like a pack of cards, with Kohli alone stranded, as he was rock steady from the innings start to the end, scoring an unbeaten 92(62b,7x4,4xs6), as without anyone to provide a partnership, ended the innings with his effort in vain, as Mumbai Indians won their first match of IPL 2018. RCB had ended at 167/8, and Rohit Sharma was awarded man of the match for his match winning 94.
