The 22nd match of the Vivo IPL 2018, between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils, began with kings xi batting first. While Avesh Khan provided an early breakthrough removing Finch, KL Rahul(23) and Mayank Agarwal(21) stood firm for a while, before being dismissed by Plunkett.
While the whole batting line-up failed miserably, Karun Nair (34) and David Miller (26), tried to salvage some pride, before being dismissed. Plunkett's 3/17 and Boult's 2/21 perfectly restricted Kings Xi Punjab to 143/8 in 20 overs. Entered the Delhi Daredevils to chase the minimal target of 144 but they lost skipper Gambhir early as well.
Maxwell (12) and Rishab pant (4) failed to deliver as well, following which Shreyas Iyer and Rahul Tewatia tried to resurrect the Innings with their partnership, before Tewatia fell, scoring a composed 24. Shreyas Iyer waged a lone battle and held nerves to single-handedly take Delhi closer to victory, before being dismissed off the last Ball of the Innings with 5 required off 1 ball, scoring a patient and much needed 57(45). Kings Xi Punjab, despite the absence of Chris Gayle, won the thriller of a match by 4 runs.
