The duo scored some stunning and massive shots and kept the Australian bowlers at bay, before Agar struck and removed Bairstow who ended scoring a superb ton, 139(92b,15x4,5x6). Jos Butler was removed quick by Richardson as Hales got a superb partner in Eoin Morgan, who began destroying Australian bowlers right from the word go.
Even as Hales was scoring at a brisk pace, Morgan punched harder, and faster, as he ta raced to a quickfire half-century. Morgan scored the fastest 50 by an English batsman, in just 21 balls, surpassing Butler's 22 balls 50. While Hales was dismissed by Richardson after scoring a powerful ton, 147(92b, 16x4,5x6), Morgan was also dismissed in quick succession scoring 67(30b, 3x4,6x6) as England suffered a sudden collapse.
Richardson ended up with 3/92, and Australia somehow limped to restricting England to 481/6 when they were expected to score 500 or above. This was the same ground where England had earlier thrashed the previous ODI best score way back in 2016, scoring 444/3 against Pakistan, and now have become the first team to score 450+ in ODI History.
