The first T20 match of India's tour of England and Ireland, between India and Ireland, held at Dublin, began with Ireland winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Batting first, India began on a strong note, with the openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan blazing away, as they got off to solid starts, dispatching the Ireland bowlers over the boundary numerous times.

While Rohit Sharma paced his knock perfectly, he scored a thundering 97(61b,8x4,5x6) before being bowled by Chase and missed out on a deserving ton, Shikhar Dhawan ended scoring a blitzkrieg 74(45b,5x4,5x6), as he was claimed by O'Brien. However after the openers departed, India witnessed a dangerous collapse, as Chase removed skipper Kohli, Raina and MS Dhoni cheap and in quick succession. Ultimately India ended scoring a mighty 208/5 off 20 overs, with Chase ending with figures of 4/35.

The Ireland innings began on a disastrous note, with Bumrah dismissing opener Stirling, and Chahal dismissed Barlbirnie early. The other opener Shannon held firm for quite some time and scored an impressive 60(35b,5x4,4x6), and as he ran out of the company for the chase, he was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav as well. Chahal removed O'Brien and Wilson, in quick succession, as Ireland's run chase almost reached a point where they had no possibilities of a victory. Ireland's chase ultimately ended at 132/9, as India won 76 by runs. Kuldeep Yadav and Chahal ended with figures of 4/21 and 3/38 respectively.
