The first T20 match between India and England began with the former winning the toss, and opting to bowl. The England innings began on a very strong note, as openers Jason Roy and Jos Butler started hitting the Indian bowlers all over the park. However, Kuldeep yadav removed Jason Roy early for 30(20), even as Butler was holding strong at the other end.



What followed was the English batting line up falling like a pack of cards, as Kuldeep Yadav ripped apart the batting order, removing Hales, Morgan, Bairstow, and Root in quick succession, all of them dismissed for single-digit scores, as  Butler was joined finally by Willey who scored an unbeaten cameo of 29(15)*. Butler departed finally, scoring 69(46b,8x4,2x6). as England reached 159/8 in 20 overs, and Kuldeep Yadav ended with impressive figures of 5/24. The Indian batting began on a dangerous manner as they lost opener Shikhar Dhawan early.



Despite losing Dhawan earlier, the Indian innings was steadied, as KL Rahul entered in, and launched an array of shots, in an unexpected manner, and smashed the English bowlers all over the park. Rohit Sharma departed after a very patient 32(30), playing second fiddle to Rahul, With skipper Virat Kohli scoring a cameo of 20(22)*, and Rahul scoring a blitzkrieg century of 101(54b, 10x4,5x6)*, India ended scoring 163/2, winning by 8 wickets and with 10 balls to spare.
