The third match of the Super four stage of Asia Cup, between India and Pakistan, began with Pakistan winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Opener Imam ul Haq and Babar Azam fell in quick succession as Pakistan was reeling at 2/55, but Fakhar Zaman 31(44) and skipper Sarfaraz Ahmad 44(66) tried to steady the team, before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav eventually.

Shoaib Malik went on to anchor the innings with a belligerent and resilient knock, cleverly picking the bad deliveries and hitting boundaries frustrating Indian bowlers, as he scored 78(90), partnering with Asif Ali 30(21), ultimately taking Pakistan to a competitive total of 237/7, with Bumrah being the pick of Indian bowlers with 2/29, while Kuldeep Yadav and Chahal also claimed two wickets apiece.

India began their response, chasing 238, with both the openers, skipper Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in no mood to get out, as they stayed calm, forging a massive opening partnership, tiring the Pakistani bowlers as they plundered runs all over, with boundaries and sixes smashed at will.

Mohammed Amir and Shadab Khan were the most expensive of the lot, and Shikhar Dhawan was finally dismissed after scoring a massive ton of 114(100b, 16x4,2x6). Skipper Rohit Sharma went on to complete his ton, scoring a thundering unbeaten 111(119b, 7x4,4x6)* , taking India to 238/1, winning by 9 wickets, with 10.3 overs remaining.
