The first ODI of West Indies tour of India began with India winning the toss and opting to field first. Though Shami removed opener Hemraj early,  Powell and Hope stood firm, forging a partnership as Powell went on to score a resurgent 51(39) and Hope departed for 32(52), and Windies were reeling at 4/114 at a stage.


Entered Hetmyer, who scored a destructive knock, as he went on hitting boundaries and sixes at will, despite wickets falling at the other end, with company from skipper Holder 38(42), Roach 26(22), Powell 22(23), and Bishoo 22(26)*, as he ended scoring a spectacular ton of 106(78b,6x4,6x6), as Windies ended at 322/8.



Chahal was the pick of the bowlers with 3/41. India began their batting, on a disastrous note, as Dhawan was dismissed cheaply, but Rohit Sharma and Skipper Virat Kohli were in no mood to relax, as both played belligerent knocks, and Skipper Kohli went on to notch a blitzkrieg ton of 140(107b,21x4,2x6), before being dismissed. Rohit went on to blast a ton as well, scoring a stunning 152(117b,15x4,8x6)*, in the company of Rayudu 22(26)*, to take India to a comfortable victory scoring 326/2, winning by 8 wickets, with 47 balls to spare.
