The second T20 of the West Indies tour of India began with West Indies winning the toss and opting to field first. The Indian batting began on a solid note as both openers, skipper Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan blasted away Windies bowlers all over the park at their will.

While Dhawan departed scoring 43(41), Rohit Sharma was on fire, presenting a rampage and smashed away boundaries and sixes, ultimately reaching his century, a massive unbeaten 111(61b, 8x4,7x6)*, and with the support of KL Rahul's 26(14)*, helped India reach a competitive 195/2 in 20 overs.

The Windies innings began on a disastrous note with both the openers Hopes (6) and Hetmyer (15) departing early, dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed, while Kuldeep Yadav scalped the settled Bravo 23(18) and Pooran (4). With Ramdin stranded on one end, Jasprit Bumrah claimed Pollard 6(11), leaving Windies at 68/5.

Bhuvaneswar Kumar dismissed Ramdin for 10(17), while Pandya run out Allen and Windies were struggling at 81/7 at that point. Tailenders Paul and Brathwaite 15(19)* delayed the inevitable by forging a partnership towards the end, before Paul was out scoring 20(21). Windies ultimately ended at 124/9, as India won by 71 runs. Bhuvaneswar Kumar had impressive figures of 2/12, and Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav, and Bumrah too scalped 2 wickets apiece.
