The 3rd day of the 1st test of India's tour of Australia began with Shami claiming Head for 72(167), and with Lyon scoring an unbeaten 24(28), Aussies reached 235, trailing behind by 15 runs. Ashwin ended with figures of 3/57 while Bumrah had scalped 3/47.



The Indian second innings began on a bad note as Vijay was dismissed for 18(53) by Starc, while KL Rahul stood firm for a while for the first time in his recent innings, and scored a well compiled 44(67) before he fell for Hazlewood.



Skipper Virat Kohli and first innings centurion Cheteshwar Pujara joined hands as they forged a partnership to steady the Indian innings and while they were scoring steadily, Kohli fell for 34(104), and with Pujara standing rock solid on 40(127)* accompanied by  Rahane 1(15)*, India ended day 3 on 151/3, leading by 166 runs with 7 wickets remaining.
