The second ODI between India and Australia began with Australia winning the toss and opting to bowl first. India began on a disastrous note losing opener Rohit Sharma early for a duck while Shikhar Dhawan too fell for 21. Skipper Virat Kohli and Vijay Shankar forged a stand to rescue the team after Rayudu departed for 18(32).



Vijay Shankar was going good before dismissed run out for 46(41), and was immediately followed by Jadhav 11(12) and Dhoni (0). With Jadeja supporting for a while with his patient 21(40), skipper Kohli reached his 40th century in ODIs and finally departed after a valuable ton of 116(120), as India reached 250 in 48.2 overs. Cummins scalped 4/29. 



Openers Khawaja(38) and Finch(37) began strongly before being dismissed by Jadhav and Kuldeep Yadav. After the dangerous Maxwell (4) and Marsh(16) departed, Stoinis and Handscomb partnered to resume resurrect Aussies before Handscomb ran out for 48(59).


Carey was out for 22( 24), but Stoinis stood firm, as he scored 52(65), getting out in the last over. Ultimately Aussies ended at 242, as India won the match by  8 runs. Kuldeep Yadav had 3/54, Vijay Shankar scalped 2/15 and Bumrah had 2/29.
