BCCI has suggested names of cricketers Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and women cricket team player Poonam Yadav for the Arjuna Awards. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India honors sports persons every year with Arjuna Awards.
Indian women's cricket opener Smriti Mandhana happened to be the only cricketer last year to win Arjuna award. Recently a meeting was held in Delhi by committee appointed by Supreme Court and cricket operations general manager operations Saba Karim nominated these 4 players.
Jasprit Bumrah has been a part of ICC Test team of the year, 2018.Mohammed Shami took 68 Test wickets in 2018 and made a stunning comeback and now both are in India's world Cup team and Poonam Yadav is a top leg spinner of India.
