Reportedly the euphoria over india’s comfortable win against south AFRICA'>south africa on Wednesday is yet to die down completely, the match has triggered a controversy over the wicket keeping gloves donned by ms dhoni, sporting the Army’s dagger insignia. Meanwhile ever since the insignia got noticed, it has become a hot topic of discussion with the International cricket Council (ICC) weighing in on the issue and asking the Board of Control for cricket in india (BCCI) to restrain Dhoni from wearing those gloves.

Furthermore the BCCI has voiced its support for Dhoni’s decision and has reportedly written back to the ICC seeking permission for Dhoni to continue using the same gloves. BCCI Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai told that Dhoni would continue wearing the dagger insignia on his gloves as it was not a military symbol.

Rai told "The BCCI had already sent a formal request to the ICC for clearance. As per ICC regulations, players can't sport any commercial, religious or military logo. There was nothing commercial or religious in this regard as we all know and it is not the paramilitary regimental dagger that is embossed in his gloves, so Dhoni is not in breach of ICC regulations”.
