Team india suffered a major setback as opener Shikhar Dhawan is now officially confirmed to be missing the rest of the World Cup. Dhawan was the hero of india's win over australia on Sunday with a knock of 117 off 109 balls. He sustained the Thumb Fracture after being hit on his left thumb by a rising delivery from pacer Nathan Coulter-nile.
Earlier, the BCCI said that Dhawan may be ready by 30th of this month but has called Rishabh Pant as a replacement in case things do not go as planned. BCCI a little while ago tweeted, "Following several specialist opinions, he will remain in a cast until the middle of July and therefore will not be available for the remainder of #CWC19".
That means Rishabh Pant will be inducted into the Squad. KL rahul who is successful as the Opener against pakistan will continue in the same slot. While vijay Shankar, Dinesh karthik, and Rishabh Pant will fight for the middle order slot. In pakistan match, Vijay shankar failed with the bat but did very well with the Ball.
