Former india and Tamil Nadu opener VB Chandrasekhar passed away in Chennai due to cardiac arrest, at the age of 57. Chandrasekhar, fondly called VB is survived by a wife and two daughters.  He played for Indian national team in seven ODIs, and 53 was his highest score.

He was part of the last TamilNadu team to win a Ranji Trophy back in 1988. VB was later involved in coaching and commentary and was also a national selector for some time. For three years he was the selector of IPL team Chennai Super Kings. He also owned a team, VB kanchi Veerans in Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

A hard-hitting opener, he represented india in seven ODIs, with an innings of 53 being his highest score. After his eventful cricketing career where he was a part of the last Tamil Nadu team to triumph in the Ranji Trophy in 1988, VB focussed on coaching and commentary. Significantly, he also served as a national selector for a brief period. cricket meant everything to him and VB was the owner of a state-of-the-art cricket academy in Chennai. He was instrumental in drafting Dhoni over Sehwag for CSK during his stint with the IPL team
